1- A Mayor from Tradition!
The following
was taken from The Le Floch Report – May 31, 2006: On the
Feast of the Queenship of Mary there is encouraging news from
St. Mary's. The residents of St. Mary's, Kansas, recently elected
a traditional Catholic mayor, Robert Awerkamp. One of Mayor Awerkamp's
first accomplishments was to make the following proclamation which
officially placed the town under the protection of Our Lady:
"Whereas
the City of St. Mary's gets its name from the Catholic Mission
founded by the Jesuits in 1848,
"And
Whereas, the name of the mission and town was given in patronage
of Mary, the mother of God,
"And
Whereas, it is good and common practice to recognize the heritage
of one's city,
"Now
therefore, I, Robert Awerkamp, Mayor of St. Mary's, Kansas,
do proclaim Mary to be the Patroness of St. Mary's, Kansas."
This act
represents a sober attempt at granting Our Lady the public honor
she deserves. Time will tell how this act will be accepted by
the American Civil Liberties Union. Nevertheless, the public honor
given to Our Lady this month by its Mayor and earlier in the month
by the entire town cannot be undone.
Bobby Awerkamp,
along with his father, has long been an example of strength and
virtue in St. Mary's, Kansas. The business which they run puts
into practice the social teaching of the Church by providing it
employees, not only with a living wage, but also with the opportunity
to practice their religion by giving the Holy days off.
Thank
you O lord Jesus!

A Booster for priests!
From April
24 - 29 the Winnipeg parish was orphaned, as both Fathers Rusak
and Girouard left in order to attend the annual priestly retreat
in Phoenix, Arizona. They joined 28 other priests, among whom
Fathers Gerspacher, Sulzen, and Herkel from Canada.
The retreat
Master was Rev. Fr. Ringrose, friend of the SSPX, and a priest
of great pastoral experience and piety. We thank God for this
good retreat that gave us all a boost!
