The Hidden Picture
Dear Crusaders, In the same way, dear children, when you are coming to confession, you are doing the same as these artists who cleaned up the whitewash. Yes, your soul is indeed a beautiful picture, made at the likeness and the image of God. How does it look? Alas, too often your soul is all covered with a haze of all kind of colours. Here I see a red coat of paint: this is from the fighting with your comrades or disobedience of your parents. Over there, I see a yellow spot from the sin of envy and jealously. In that corner, I see a grey spot from laziness. Up here, I see a bunch of colours without order; this is from the bad habit of lying, which always tries to cover up the truth. Finally, I see a black spot from mortal sin. Now, dear children, you need to make a good clean-up of your soul. Get rid of this awful whitewash, so that the image of God can again shine forth with the full brightness of baptismal innocence. Check all these coatings of bad paint. Then, ask pardon of God, for having soiled the brightness of our soul. Ask pardon to Our Lord, because you lost the brightness of His Blood. When your soul shines again with sanctifying grace, you will be able to keep it that way by the Precious Blood of Our Saviour in Holy Communion. By doing this, you will reproduce in your soul the perfect picture of Jesus, according to the model of Nazareth. This is my wish for all of you in the Crusade *whitewash was a mix of lime
and a gluey water, like a weak white paint that was used to whiten things
quickly. Father Dominique Boulet
