There was once a beautiful
chapel in an old Cistercian convent by the Baltic Sea, which had a very
special fountain. This fountain was built into the shape of an Olive Tree.
The trunk of the tree-fountain was made of a large copper pipe from which
many branches came forth. The branches and leaves were made out of copper.
This fountain was fed day and night by a water pipe, and water was forced
through thousands of small holes. The pipes brought forth many thousands
of little drops of water.
This masterpiece was destroyed long ago. However, the meaning of that
wonderful fountain has not been lost. What does it mean? The answer can
be found by thinking about the statue of Our Lady, Mother of Divine Grace,
which used to be above that fountain. Our Lady is the special Olive Tree
who is fed continually by Christ, the source of all graces. Mary showers
us with Christ’s graces and blessings through her branches. We,
who are the unworthy children of Eve, need to think about this, especially
during Mary’s month of May.
During the Mary’s Month, let us gather around that Olive Tree; praise
its beauty by faithful prayers and sweet canticles. Gather the thousands
of drops of divine grace pouring forth from that tree, and don’t
let even one day of Mary’s month go by without doing something special
to please Our Blessed Mother. You may give honour to the Mother of God
by kneeling in front of the altar of Our Lady, at home or at the church.
Every day, pray to her. Place yourself with the Mother of all graces and
obtain from her many graces. Place yourself with her under the Cross of
Jesus. Instead of water, you will gather the drops of His Precious Blood,
pouring forth from His Precious Wounds. How can you do that? You do that
by attending Holy Mass, which is the renewal of the sacrifice of Calvary.
If you do it with devotion, it is truly a rain of graces that falls upon
your soul, and it pleases Our Blessed Mother very much. When we receive
Holy Communion, we eat of the fruit of the tree of Calvary, and an abundance
of blessings will fall upon you, for you and the members of your family.
Be assured that I am praying for your intentions,
Father
