Do Not Beat Around the Bush!
(for the 1st Sunday in Lent)

Dear Crusaders,

The devil, who is wicked, tried three times to tempt Our Lord, the Holy of Holies.  Was Jesus impressed by such behaviour?  Not at all!  Our Lord did not beat around the bush to answer to the shameless of the devil.  With one word, He sent him away, and finally, the tempter had to give up his rash hopes.  Against Him, thought the devil, there is nothing I can do.

Dear children, here is a good lesson Our Lord gave to us.  Do not beat around the bush with the devil and his temptations, but get used to sending him away at once.  You will do so by using some short prayers, called ejaculatory prayers.  These are some short prayers like: “My Jesus, have mercy!” or “My Jesus, I love Thee”, and others.  I would strongly advise you to make good use of such prayers.  Why?  Well, they can be said with great piety when they are short.  Also, it is a very good way to make good use of spare moments, like when you ride in the car.  In that case, you could not start long prayers, because you would have no time to finish them, while ejaculatory prayers can used at any time, and everywhere.

Think about the amount of grains of gold that you could pick up for Jesus by saying such prayers every day, during your free time.  Also, remember that, with a number of these prayers, you can gain indulgences for yourself and the souls in Purgatory.

Ejaculatory prayers are also useful at time of temptation.  First of all, it helps you to hate sin, for if you pray sincerely, you cannot give consent to sin at the same time. Also, Our Lord is faithful to His promises to answer our prayers, as long as we ask for something which is good for our soul.  Moreover, you never know, but, at the time of death, it may be an ejaculatory prayer that will secure the salvation of your soul, for all eternity.  How is that? At that very moment, will Jesus find on your lips a word of contrition?  It all depends if you are used to doing it.  There is a lady, who, as she was suddenly quite sick cried: “O Lord, forgive me all my sins!”  Another young man, who, as he was rescued from drowning said that as he was sinking, had only one thing in mind: “Will I make it!”  Then, a bad man, as he was falling off his horse, cried a blasphemy.  Only the lady, remembered to say ejaculatory prayers while she was in great danger because she had developed the good habit of using those prayers during the day.  The two other men has not developed this good habit of short prayer.  What probably happened to their souls?

So, I beg you, dear children, work on the good habit of ejaculatory prayers while you are young.  As it says the Bible: if we take good habits while we are young, we will keep them.

Note about the situation of our magazine: Since February, the adults’ treasures are no more included in the totals of the Eucharistic Crusade.  As I am completing this March issue, only 56% of the families who are regular subscribers have renewed their subscription.  This places us in a very critical situation for survival.  In the event we were to end the publication of our little magazine, we would reimburse you for the unused portion of the subscription.  Dear children, the future of your magazine is in your hands: I am begging you to show great generosity in your Sacrifices for Lent.  We need to storm heaven, for the survival and growth of our Eucharistic Crusade in Canada! By doing so, you will fulfill the motto of the Eucharistic Crusade, being Apostles!
