The word Rosary means "Crown of Roses". And did
you know that every time you say your Rosary well, you place a Crown
of Roses on Our Lady's head! That's right! When you say your 5 decade
Rosary, you place a crown of 59 roses on Our Lady's head. Now that's
something nice to think about. I'll bet you will want to say your Rosary
well now, every time!
A long time ago, there
was a Brother named Alphonsus who used to say his Rosary so well that
he would to see a Red Rose come out of his mouth every time he
said the Our Father! And he would see a White Rose come out of
his mouth every time he said the Hail Mary!
Then there is the story
of a Franciscan Monk who used to say his Rosary every day before dinner.
One day this Br. John was too busy to say his Rosary before dinner. The
dinner bell rang and he asked the Superior if he could say his Rosary before he ate. The Superior told him he
could, so he went to his room to say his Rosary.
After Br. John had been
gone a long time, the Superior sent another monk to go and get him. But
this second monk got a big surprise when he saw Br. John in his room.
He was bathed in a heavenly light and was looking at Our Lady. And there
were two angels standing beside Our Lady. As Br. John was saying his
Rosary, a beautiful rose would pop out of his mouth every time he said
the Hail Mary! And the angels were taking these roses, one by one, and
placing them on Our Lady's head. Our Lady was smiling as she received
each rose and she was praying for good Br. John.
Finally two other monks
were sent to find out what had happened to the first monk and they too
got the surprise of their lives when they saw the angels giving the roses
to Our Lady. And you can be sure that these four monks were overjoyed
at what they had seen.
So you see now, how important
it is to say your Rosary well. Even though you won't see it, your
Guardian Angel will be taking each Our Father and Hail Mary you say, and
placing it as a Rose on Our Lady's head! And Our Lady will be
very happy to receive these beautiful Roses from you. So remember:
Say your Rosary well, every day of your life, and Jesus and Mary will
always bless you!
