The Holy Name of Jesus

Dear Crusaders,

At first, let me express my best wishes for a happy and holy New Year to all the members of the Eucharistic Crusade, their families and friends.  I would like to invite you to gather by the crib of the Child Jesus, to beg Him to bless you; and to renew the complete offering of yourselves to his service, for the glory of God and the salvation of souls.

By all means, it is true that the Eucharistic Crusade is a very small army of true soldiers of Jesus Christ.  But Jesus Christ, the king and general of that army is not looking for the number of the soldiers.  On the contrary, He is looking for the generosity and the zeal of our crusaders to fight the true battles of God against the devil.  That is why, I really would like to encourage you to persevere in your engagements in the Eucharistic Crusade.  My motto for this year will be: keep up and recruit more members.  It is always encouraging to see more soldiers joining the battle.

When the angel Gabriel appeared to St. Joseph, he told him about the child of Mary: “And she shall bring forth a son: and thou shalt call his name Jesus, for he shall save his people from their sins.”  In a few days, we will have the beautiful feast of the Holy Name of Jesus.  God’s love of men was such that He gave us His only Son, to be the Saviour of all men.  The tiny babe we venerate in the crib is really the one who can save us from hell and bring us to heaven!  Without Him, we would be lost forever.

Let us promise the child Jesus to remain faithful to his service, for the good of our souls, and the souls of our neighbour.
