The Nativity Sets Dear crusaders, What struck me the most since I moved to Quebec was to see huge Catholic churches almost everywhere. It is the proof that, at one time, the beautiful province of Quebec was completely Catholic. In Montreal, there is a gigantic church built on the side of Mount Royal. That church, called the St. Joseph’s Oratory, is the world most famous shrine built in honour of the great St. Joseph. It was built in the 20th century by the poor and holy Brother André Bessette. If one day, like me, you have a chance to go to visit that shrine, take it and remember to pray there to the great St. Joseph, who is the patron saint of Canada! Every year around Christmas, at St. Joseph’s Oratory, there is a beautiful exposition of nativity sets from all around the world. This year, I was amazed to see the 290 different nativity sets they have been able to gather from 110 different countries! Why men make nativity sets? They want to remember that Christmas is a time to pay a visit to the Child Jesus. Both the poor shepherds and the rich kings from the East went to see Jesus in Bethlehem, and all of them had something to offer to Jesus. Do you think that, after offering something to Jesus, they had nothing left for themselves? Not at all! All those who offered something to Jesus did not go home poorer, but richer. They had received the most valuable gift available only to men of good will, which is the joy and peace of Christmas. The child Jesus always gives his many blessings to those who profess their faith in His divinity. Dear crusaders, remember to go to the crib; be generous to offer to Jesus your Prayers, Communions and Sacrifices. You will not be losers, but winners: the child Jesus will never forget your generosity! Best wishes for the New Year, for you and for your dear parents! Father Dominique Boulet
