My Lord and my God! Dear Crusaders, There is a beautiful story that happened on the occasion of the Resurrection of Our Lord. It was in the evening of Easter, when Jesus appeared to the apostles who were gathered together. It just happened that St. Thomas was missing at that time. When Thomas came back, the other apostles were so glad to tell him about Jesus that just came to pay them a visit. Was St. Thomas going to rejoice at hearing such a beautiful story? Not at all! He would not believe the other apostles: “Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails and put my fingers in the place of the nails and put my hand in his side, I will not believe.” For sure, the other apostles were very much disappointed, but they resolved not to be nasty but rather to pray for him. Eight days after, the apostles were gathered in the same room, and Thomas was with them. Jesus appeared to them. Then, He went to Thomas, and told him: “Thomas, come here! Put your finger hither and see my hands.” You can imagine that Thomas was very embarrassed, but he fell on his knees before Jesus, and made his profession of faith: “My Lord and my God”. To which Jesus answered: “Because thou hast seen me, Thomas, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen and have believed.” At first, as he could not see Jesus, Thomas refused to believe. But Thomas made up for his lack of faith when he fell on his knees before Jesus and said: “My Lord and my God.” As the apostle St. Thomas, you don’t see Jesus in the Holy Eucharist, but faith tells you that He is really present in the Holy Eucharist. Every time you attend mass, Jesus is giving Himself as food for your soul in Holy Communion. Moved by a strong faith in the Blessed Sacrament, you should make fervent thanksgivings, and often repeat like St. Thomas: “My Lord and my God”. Have a blessed Easter season! Father Dominique Boulet
