Rome a Ploughed Field?
By Rev. Fr. Patrick Girouard SSPX

Dear readers,

Fr. Patrick Girouard

“There are no more men, because there is no more strength of character; there is no more strength of character, because there are no more convictions”… These words from a wise man whose name I cannot recall, give an explanation of why nobody today seems to have the strength to lead a good life, and to fight evil. There are no more virile people. Men have become “pink”, it is to say wimpies. Women try to believe they are men, but it’s so ridiculous it makes you laugh. The reason? Lack of character, lack of strength, because of a lack of convictions. To correct this situation, the SSPX has always created and spread good literature. The Communicantes Magazine was part of that. And will remain. The name has changed, but not the purpose or the content. In fact, the new name has been adopted to bring its role to a greater light. Hopefully, those who will read it will indeed acquire more and stronger convictions, and good ones too! Because this is most important: To be really convinced yes, but of what is true and right! The lack of right convictions has brought about the crisis we are in today.

Indeed, I think it is safe to say that the source of all evils afflicting the Church today is two-fold: We forget what we are, and who God is. And what are we?: “Behold, thou hast made my days measurable: and my substance is as nothing before thee. And indeed all things are vanity: every man living. Surely man passeth as an image…” (Psalm 38:6-7). “…we are dust: man’s days are as grass, as the flower of the field so shall he flourish. For the spirit shall pass in him and he shall not be…” (Psalm 102:14-15). And Who is God?: “Behold God is great, exceeding our knowledge: the number of his years is inestimable… If he will spread out clouds as his tent, and lighten with his light from above, he shall cover also the ends of the sea.” (Job 36:26-35). “Where was thou (said the Lord) when I laid the foundations of the earth?” (Job 38:4). “For the whole world before thee is as the least grain of the balance, and as a drop of the morning dew, that falleth down upon the earth… And how could anything be preserved, if not called by thee?” (Wisd. 11:23+26). To forget these two basic truths is to open the door to every abuse and error. Man then starts to think he can handle the things of God in his own way, and makes all kinds of changes. But God will not let himself be mocked forever…

  Ventriloquist priest

Fr. Doug Celebrates Mass
by Ventriloquism through His Dummy Charlie.

When we start considering what has been going on in Rome, and the Catholic Church, for the last forty-five years or so, and we compare that to the rebukes God made against the clergy of the Old Testament, we can ask ourselves if God is not about to chastise both in an extraordinary way. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass has been defiled to please the so-called “separated brethren”, and to have man as the new object of the Church’s cult… For instance, Father Doug, of St. Joseph parish in Shreveport (Louisiana), uses his gift of ventriloquism to say the New Order of Mass (N.O.M.) through his dummy. “Conservative” Bishop Allen Vigneron of Oakland (California) likes to celebrate, during the Offertory of his “Chinese Tea” N.O.M., the pagan “Offering of tea ceremony”. Another priest performs limbo dancing during his guitar N.O.M. (See video “What we have lost” by the INSOC). And so forth and so on. All the other sacraments have also been “adapted”, and so were the Ritual, the Pontifical, the Catechism, the Bible, the Rosary, the Theology, the training of Seminarians, the Rules of Religious Orders, and what not? The late John-Paul II has changed the rules for beatification and canonization, so that now we don’t need so much inquiries, heroic virtues, miracles. The same Pope also initiated a “reflection” about “a way to exercise the Petrine ministry that will reveal more the common bond of bishops” (=The Pope is only “presiding” the Bishops’ College). It seems His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI is gladly following his steps. He would have nothing to do with the tiara, even as a symbol of his office on his coat of arms. He named as head of the former Holy Office, Mgr William J. Levada, former archbishop of Portland and San Francisco. Why? Because, as a friendly priest who has good contacts in Rome told us, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith is in charge of the cases involving homosexual and/or pedophiliac priests. And Mgr Levada was very much appreciated by Rome because of his skills in getting settlements for lawsuits brought up against such priests. Now, what about the defense of the Faith? Should we not have as Prefect of that Congregation a man of superior theological knowledge and Faith? But Mgr Levada, never showed any sign that he possessed these qualities. In fact, he spent much time fighting against Rev. Fr. Heidt, a traditional priest. So, what has God to say about the situation? Let’s open our Bibles and see…

About the Liturgy: “The son honoreth the father, and the servant his master: If then I be a father, where is my honor? and if I be a master, where is my fear: saith the Lord of hosts? To you, O priests, that despise my name and have said: Wherein have we despised thy name? You offer polluted bread over my altar: and you say: Wherein have we polluted thee?: In that you say: The table of the Lord is contemptible… (Mal. 1:6-7). About Sacred Doctrine: “For the lips of the priests shall keep knowledge, and they shall seek the law at his (God’s) mouth… But you have departed out of the way, and have caused many to stumble at the law… You have wearied the Lord with your words: and you said: Wherein have we wearied him? In that you say: Every one that doth evil, is good in the sight of the Lord, and such please him…” (Mal. 2:7-8+17). Now what did God say about punishing these evils? Just a few quotes among others… About the profaned sacrifices: “I have no pleasure in you, saith the Lord of hosts: and I will not receive a gift from thy hand” (Mal. 1:10). About the false teachings: “Thus saith the Lord concerning the prophets that make my people err: that bite with their teeth, and preach peace… night shall be to you instead of vision, and darkness to you instead of divination…” (Mich. 3:5-6). About the wicked servants of God: “For behold the day shall come, kindled as a furnace: and all the proud, and all who do wickedly shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall set them on fire, saith the Lord of hosts, it shall not leave them root nor branch.” (Mal. 4:1). “Therefore because of you, Sion shall be ploughed as a field, and Jerusalem shall be as a heap of stones, and the mountain of the temple as the high places of the forests.” (Mich. 3:12).

Archbishop William J. Levada,
S.T.D.

Three terrible chastisements! God will cease to listen to prayers; He will cease to enlighten the clergy; He will burn, uproot, break down, and so much ravage Sion that she will become a field that is being ploughed! And we know it really happened to Jerusalem in 70 AD. Will it happen to Rome? To the visible Church? In a way it is already happening with all the sacred building being sold, destroyed, transformed in condos or museums. And the possibility of the destruction of Rome is very likely. God does not change. For example, let us listen to what Mohamed bin Abdel-Rahman el-Arifi, imam of the Malik Fahd Military Academy, in Saudi Arabia, said in 2003: “The islamists will take over the territory of Saint Peter, after having conquered the Rome of Cesar, and thus, without these ramparts, Europe will become muslim.” (Cf. Bulletin des Amis de St François de Sales, No. 127). But is the modernist Church alone to forget what man is, and Who is God? I don’t think so. Especially, when I see how easily we sin against God and each other. Or with how much casualness of dress and manner some traditional people enter a church or a chapel. By Golly! They dress better when going to the Opera! And what about the way they participate in the offering of the Mass? Looking around, talking, making jokes, not taking proper care of toddlers, so that it is almost impossible to get recollected. Sometimes we find candy wrappers, or pieces of cookies or cereals in the church. And what about doctrine? We, traditional priests, are amazed at the repulsion many people have for reading spiritual books, even the Bible, or for learning about their Faith. When I converted to Tradition, 24 years ago, it was not as bad. I had been very impressed by the way men and women were sporting their “Sunday bests”. Men wore ties, suits, and nice polished shoes. Women looked modest but nice, in their long and ample, not tight, dresses, and their gay hats or fine laced mantillas. Everyone looked dignified, as befit children of God. People would also literally devour good literature. Things of the world tasted like ashes to them. They would travel long distances, or even move, to assist to the services. I remember Mr. Leo-Candide Violette who, together with his wife, would travel from Edmundston to Shawinigan (about 350 miles) every Sunday to go to Mass! But it seems that since then we also have forgotten what we are, and Who is God. Have we lost our convictions? God forbid! Let us convert anew, so as not to be included in the chastisements that will befall those who are negligent in the service of the Lord! Let us be convinced of these words, and make them ours: “…I will behold thy heavens, the works of thy fingers: the moon and the stars which thou hast founded. What is man, that thou art mindful of him, or the son of man, that thou visitest him?” (Psalm 8:4-5) ?

May God bless you all!

NB:

  1. Thanks to all those who have sent us their suggestions for a new name for Communicantes. I must admit it was a difficult choice. We hope you like the new name and motto.
  2. Hearty Thanks to Rev. Fr. Fullerton, for giving us permission to develop our readership in his US District.
