APRIL 29, 2013

Two enjoyable Saturday activities were the highlight of the month of May. The first, on April 20, was the visit to a pig farm run by one of our parishioners near Stratford. After having visited the entire automated operation, and helped with the chores, they were also able to visit a dairy farm, assist in the milking, and of course play in the barn. Then on April 27 the boys and scouts took off for a full day out to the Wolf`s Den, a sanctuary near Barrie dedicated to outdoor sports. The activities were organized by one of our parishioners, who is an Art, Archery and fly fishing instructor. The boys spent most of the day testing their skills with a bow and practicing their fish catching techniques on the bass in the ponds there.

The boys finally run down the elusive Sasquatch at Wolf’s Den.

The boys discover that spring is here at Stevers’ Farm.

The third quarter ended on Holy Wednesday, after a series of tests to close the quarter, and as the parish mission, preached by Father Dominique Boulet, also drew to a close. After a ten day break, it was back to school on Monday April 8, feast of the Annunciation this year. After the handing out of the third quarter report cards to the students, the parents were invited to meet with their children`s teachers on April 19. This month was characterized by a flurry of activity, preparing props, scenery and costumes for the two competing plays. The high school girls went first, presenting Agatha Christie`s The Mousetrap very professionally on Sunday April 28, after the High Mass and a pot luck lunch. Many parishioners stayed for the production, directed by high school teacher Miss Theresa Rugman, and found it very entertaining. The boys` drama club is preparing its production for May, and will be putting on Shakespeare`s A Comedy of Errors.
